Your Guide to hazardous and illegal postal articles

It is imperative that you do not send any of the prohibited items specified in this brochure with Fastway Post New Zealand Limited (“Fastway Post”). Fastway Post and it’s agents will only accept goods for carriage if they are packaged in the standard Fastway Post packaging specified in the point of sale literature. Fastway Post is not a general carrier and does not accept dangerous goods for carriage under any circumstances. While some dangerous goods may appear harmless to you, while they are being transported they can very easily become dangerous. Fastway Post and its agents will not accept liability or make compensation payments for loss, damage or delayed delivery, for any prohibited items. If you send prohibited items with Fastway Post you may be liable for any damage or delay caused by those items. Please refer to the ‘Fastway Post contract and conditions of carriage of postal articles’, displayed on this page.
The sender of a postal article with Fastway Post and its agents must expressly agree with the following terms and conditions.
- Not to send any dangerous, illegal, hazardous or inadequately packaged postal article.
- To accept liability for any damage or loss resulting howsoever from sending any illegal, dangerous, hazardous or inadequately packaged postal article.
- Not to send cash, bank notes, coins, currency notes, stamps, deeds, travelers cheques, uncrossed cheques, credit cards, bonds, securities, shares, precious metals, stones, gems, jewellery, watches, antiques, works of art, fragile articles or send items valued over the sum of $250 except with the prior arrangement of Fastway Post Ltd or its agents.
- Not to send any items with a dangerous goods classification.
- Not to send any explosives.
- Not to send any compressed gases.
- Not to send any flammable liquids.
- Not to send any oxidizers that react when exposed to oxygen.
- Not to send corrosives.
- Not to send poisons.
- Not to send perishable biological substances, pathological objects and articles for medical examination.
- Not to send wet cell batteries (e.g. car batteries).
- Not to send living creatures, i.e. birds and animals.
- Not to send restricted drugs unless in prescription quantities and packaged correctly.
- Not to send radioactive materials.
- Not to send any illegal, offensive on unsolicited indecent goods.
- Not to send highly magnetic goods.
Compensation Fastway Post will not make compensation payments when a postal article’s contents are damaged or lost should the article contain prohibited or hazardous items or if it’s contents were inadequately packaged.
